At last, the Dummies series is tackling football. Former Raider all-pro defensive end and current Fox TV analyst Howie Long calls the signals, and if he doesn’t always go deep–he’s got a lot of ground to cover–at least he connects. He scores big with his inclusions of John Hannah and Hugh McElhenny among the greatest offensive players ever, but should be penalized for overemphasizing tight ends and forgetting the electricity that wide receivers bring to the game. Jeremy Gallon & Tommy Smith, Apopka Blue Darters

I went to check out the nationally ranked high school football team Apopka Blue Darters to watch top recruit, Jeremy Gallon (left) who is committed to the Michigan Wolverines when he graduates. His teammate, Tommy Smith (right) is another awesome talent scoring two touchdowns in tonight’s blowout win over powerhouse, Lake Brantley Patriots. These schools are both within a few miles of my home in Longwood, Florida so it was great to see them play each other in the first game of the season. Apopka won 33-14. Even though the Patriots knew Gallon would get the ball on most possessions, they still couldn’t contain him, he accounted for over 200 yards of offense!
